Naomi Osaka Books Spot In Miami Open Second Round

Four-time major champion Naomi Osaka is through to the Miami Open second round in Florida, USA following a three-set victory over Yuliia Starodubtseva in the first round.

The Japanese came from a set down to beat Ukraine’s Starodubtseva 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to claim her first victory since her exit from the Australian Open in just the second round earlier this year in January.

Elsewhere in Miami, Taylor Townsend overcame fellow American Ann Li 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, while former Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin edged two-time Wimbledon champ Petra Kvitova 6-4, 7-5.

There were also wins for Katerina Siniakova, Viktoria Tomova, Magda Linette and Lucia Bronzetti in the first round.
