A number of Nigerian football stars featured for their respective clubs over the weekend, with a good number of them getting good results although one or two would have preferred a much better outcome than they got.
Ola Aina
One of Nottingham Forest’s most consistent players this season endured a long afternoon at the Vitality Stadium, playing 79 minutes before being replaced by Ramon Sosa as Forest fell to a 5-0 demolition at Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Another Nigerian, Taiwo Awoniyi, featured for Forest in the match, playing 11 minutes after being brought off the bench to replace Morgan Gibbs-White.
Gift Orban

The striker joined Hoffenheim from Olympique Lyon earlier in January and has now scored his first goal for the Bundesliga club, meeting a cross from Adam Hlozek to register a goal just two minutes after coming on in the exciting 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
Orban’s compatriot, Kevin Akpoguma, also featured in the match for Hoffenheim, playing all 90 minutes.
Sam Chukwueze
The talented forward got a dramatic 95th-minute winner for AC Milan as the Rossoneri came from 2-1 down with 10 minutes to go to seal a 3-2 win in Serie A.
Cyriel Dessers
The Rangers striker followed up his goal at Old Trafford on Thursday with another in the Scottish Premiership, getting the third as the Gers came from a goal down to wrap up a 3-1 win at Dundee United and open up a 13-point lead over their third-placed opponent on the league table.
The 30-year-old striker has now scored 8 goals after 21 appearances in the league.
Christantus Uche

The Getafe forward starred in the 3-0 win at Real Sociedad over the weekend, scoring a goal and providing another as the visitors romped to a big win on the road. The win lifts Getafe to 14th place on the La Liga table with 23 points.
Victor Osimhen
Osimhen got the winner for Galatasaray, converting a third penalty in as many matches to seal a 1-0 win over Konyaspor in a Super Lig match on Saturday. The result keeps Galatasaray top of the league and unbeaten after 20 matches in the campaign.
Chidera Ejuke
The Nigerian midfielder continues his return from a hamstring injury that kept him out since last October, playing 30 minutes of Sevilla’s 1-1 draw at home to Espanyol in a La Liga match.
It is his second appearance since returning to the Sevilla squad, following nine minutes in the 2-1 win at Girona a week ago. He will be hoping to get more minutes when Sevilla take on Uche’s Getafe in La Liga on February 1st.
Moses Simon
The Super Eagles winger was instrumental again for FC Nantes, providing the assist for Mostafa Mohammed to score the club’s equaliser in a point 1-1 draw at home to Olympique Lyon on Sunday.
The result leaves Nantes in 14th place on the league table with 18 points, just a point off a relegation play-off place and three points off the drop zone itself.
