Nigerian footballers abroad continue to star for their respective clubs, including the last two African Player of the Year winners, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, who scored for their respective clubs over the weekend..

In Turkey, Victor Osimhen scored a goal in each half as Galatasaray cruised to a 5-1 win at Kayserispor and extend their lead on top of the Super Lig to eight points following Fenerbahce’s 1-1 draw at Eyupspor on Friday.

Osimhen now has nine goals in the Turkish top-flight, which puts him joint third in the golden boot race alongside Edin Dzeko and Ciro Immobile, one goal behind Istanbul Basaksehir’s Krzysztof Piatek and Simon Banza of Trabzonspor.

Newly crowned CAF Men’s Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, presented the award to the stadium ahead of the game before getting ninth goal in Serie A this season as Atalanta claimed a 3-2 win over Empoli to remain top of the league.

In England, Ola Aina got his second of the season as Nottingham Forest claimed a 2-0 win at Brentford and stay fourth in the Premier League, two points behind Arsenal.

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey played all 90 minutes for Fulham while Joe Aribo saw 58 minutes of action before being replaced by Lesley Ugochukwu in a Premier League match which ended goalless at Craven Cottage.

Paul Onuachu made a cameo as a 90th-minute substitute in the match which saw Iwobi come close to scoring on a number of occasions only to be denied by former Arsenal team-mate, Aaron Ramsdale.

Samuel Chukwueze saw 70 minutes of action in Italy for AC Milan and caused trouble for Hellas Verona defenders although he was unable to find the back of the net despite having a handful of chances. Milan did get the win through Tijjani Reijnders’ goal early in the second half.

In Spain, Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused sub as Sevilla fell 4-2 at Real Madrid in La Liga on Sunday. The result sees Sevilla drop to 14th with 22 points, just seven points clear of the relegation zone.
