Billed to be a keenly contested tie, Morocco made light work of Egypt in a 6-0 demolition of their North African rivals to win bronze at the men’s football event at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Two goals in three minutes from Abde Ezzalzouli and Soufiane Rahimi gave the Atlas Lions a 2-0 lead midway through the first half. Bilal El Khannouss then added a third in the 51st minute to effectively put the game to bed.

Golden Boot winner-in-view Rahimi got his second of the game to make it 4-0 just after the hour mark. The goal was his eighth at the Olympics.

Akram Nakach made it 5-0 in the 73rd minute before Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi struck in a fine free-kick with three minutes left on the clock to close the scoring.
