Liverpool forward Mo Salah has ended speculation surrounding his future by penning a new contract extension with the Premier League side.
The Egyptian international’s contract was initially due to run out at the end of the current campaign, but he has signed a new two-year deal which will see him remain at Anfield until the summer of 2027.
32-year-old Salah has been instrumental for Liverpool as they chase Premier League glory this season, topping the scoring charts with 27 goals and providing 17 assists.
“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football,” Salah said.
The forward also said, “It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.”
He added, “I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies.”
Since his arrival at Anfield from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has won the Premier League once, one UEFA Champions League title, an FA Cup and two League Cups in addition to one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup crown.
