Fans of Newcastle United are in seventh heaven, following their beloved team’s passage into the Final of the League Cup (Carabao Cup) courtesy of the win over Arsenal on Wednesday night.
The Magpies consolidated on their 2-0 first-leg advantage in January to hand out another defeat by the same score to the Gunners at St. James’ Park and reach the League Cup final for the second time in three seasons.
Fans of the Toon army enjoyed the win and subsequently wound up Gunners boss Mikel Arteta with several taunts at St James’ Park.
After the first-leg defeat at the Emirates, Arteta complained about the Puma balls used in the League Cup this season.
Meanwhile, after Anthony Gordon scored for the hosts, Newcastle fans taunted Arteta with chants: “It must be the ball, it must be the ball, Mikel Arteta, it must be the ball.”
The support then sang “he’s going to cry in a minute” ahead of the final whistle.
In the aftermath of the 4-0 aggregate win, Newcastle’s media team took to their social media channels and posted a snap of the match ball with the caption: “The culprit.”
