Marcus Jordan, the son of basketball legend, Michael Jordan, will face trial for his DUI case at a new date after the original date scheduled for later this month was pushed back by a few months on the request of Marcus.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Jordan and his lawyers pled with a judge to have the trial moved from June 23. One reason given for the request was to allow Jordan have more time to engage in plea negotiations with prosecutors.

The trial is now set to begin in September as state prosecutors did not oppose to the request for the case to be rescheduled, with Jordan facing three criminal charges for DUI, resisting an officer without violence, and ketamine possession.

Jordan was taken into custody after authorities pulled up on his Lamborghini SUV stuck on train tracks in Florida. He admitted to having substance issues in the weeks after the arrest, although he revealed in mid-May he had reached a 40-day sobriety milestone.
