Georgia’s Merab Dvalishvili remains the bantamweight title holder after submitting Sean O’Malley of the United States in the third round of UFC 316’s main event held in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday night.
Dvaslishvili extends his winning streak to 13 fights after a successful bantamweight title defence, having defeated the American former world champion in a previous fight for the belt last year.
“I’m on top of the world. I came from nothing, I’m so grateful to inspire so many generations. It doesn’t matter what you have if you know where you’re going and you have a goal,” Dvalishvili said afterwards.
Dvashlishvili has now beaten former world champions O’Malley, Jose Aldo, Petr Yan and Henry Cejudo, and holds the second longest winning streak among active fighters in the UFC, two wins behind Islam Makhachev.
