Kylian Mbappe’s hot streak in front of goal continues as Real Madrid return to the top of La Liga after dispatching Las Palmas 4-1 at the Bernabeu on Sunday.

Fabio Silva silenced the home crowd after putting the visitors in front in the first minute, before Kylian Mbappe restored parity via a penalty kick after Rodrygo was fouled in the Las Palmas box.

Brahim Díaz put Madrid ahead in the 33rd minute and Mbappe added his second goal and fifth in the last seven matches in the 36th minute off an assist by Rodrygo

The Brazilian then turned from provider to scorer with his third goal in three matches in the 57th minute to make the points safe for Los Blancos.

Benito Ramírez was sent off for the visitors for a high kick in the 64th minute. He was initially shown a yellow card but video review determined he deserved a red card.

Madrid were without forward Vinícius Júnior due to a two-game suspension, while defender David Alaba made his long-awaited return to action after a lengthy knee-injury in the 77th minute. The Austrian had been on the sidelines since December 2023.

The home side also had three goals from Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Federico Valverde chalked off by VAR, though it mattered little as Carlo Ancelotti’s side moved two points ahead of city rivals, Atletico Madrid,

Real Madrid also have a seven-point lead over third-placed Barcelona after Hansi Flick’s men could only muster a 1-1 draw from their trip to Getafe on Saturday.
