Real Madrid are back to within four points of La Liga leaders Barcelona after Kylian Mbappe scored twice to help grind out a 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo on Sunday.

The hosts went in front in the 33rd minute when a short corner was played onto the path of Arda Guler, whose curling shot found the top corner albeit with a slight deflection.

Frenchman Kylian Mbappe doubled Madrid’s advantage six minutes later with a fine finish which beat Celta keeper Vicente Guaita, following a swift counter.

The former PSG hitman got his second three minutes after the restart as he latched on to Guler’s excellent through ball to slot home into the bottom corner.

Celta Vigo pulled one back with just over 20 minutes remaining through Javi Rodriguez’s close-range finish after Madrid had failed to deal properly with a corner.

The visitors then set up a tense finale when veteran Iago Aspas set-up fellow substitute Williot Swedberg to reduce the deficit in the 76th minute.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men held on for all three points and claimed their fourth La Liga win in a row. The victory moves Madrid back to within four points of leaders Barcelona ahead of a potentially title-deciding El Clasico next weekend.
