Max Verstappen Bounces Back from Sprint Disappointment to Claim Miami GP Pole

World champion Max Verstappen bounced back from missing out of a podium place in the Sprint for the first time in eight years to claim pole position for the main race at the Miami Grand Prix ahead of Sprint race winner Lando Norris and teen sensation Kimi Antonelli.

Verstappen looked set to wrap up an easy run to pole with his drive in Q3, but committed an error to open a window for a challenge to his time, which neither Norris nor Antonelli were able to capitalise on, as Verstappen clinches pole with a 0.06 second margin.

Norris was on course to beat Verstappen’s qualifying time, only to go over the kerbs and lose ground on his Red Bull rival, while his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri was unable to improve on Norris’ time during his run as he settled for fourth on the starting grid behind Mercedes’ Antonelli.

The other Mercedes of George Russell slotted into fifth, ahead of the Williams duo of Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon in sixth and seventh respectively, while Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, Estaban Ocon and Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top 10 for Sunday’s race.
