Manchester United returned to winning ways in the Premier League after snatching a 1-0 victory against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday night.

An uninspiring encounter in west London saw Argentina international defender, Lisandro Martinez, pop up with the lone goal via a wicked deflection to give the visitors the crucial three points to take back home.

The hosts were the more impressive side on the day but could not do much to threaten the visitors in terms of scoring. United on the other hand failed to register a single shot on target for 77 minutes.

That changed in fortunate fashion as Martinez tried his luck from distance when a cross in was half-cleared by Fulham to his path, with the defender’s shot flicking off Sasa Lukic, looping over Bernd Leno and into the back of the net as United went in front.

Fulham were inches away from snatching a late equaliser, though, when Joachim Andersen’s glancing header at the near post was goal-bound only for substitute, Toby Collyer, to clear off the line the and preserve the lead for United.

Amad Diallo thought he had sealed victory deep into stoppage-time as he found the bottom corner, only for VAR to rule it out for offside, as Ruben Amorim’s men held on to ensure they left the English capital with all three points.
