Premier League legend, Paul Scholes, holds the opinion that Manchester United should banish embattled forward, Marcus Rashford, from the dressing room amid the controversy with head coach, Ruben Amorim.
The 27-year-old’s future has been the subject of debate in recent weeks amid poor work ethics, with reports stating he could leave Old Trafford in the final week of the transfer window.
Scholes said: “I think Marcus has let a lot of people down with his attitude and I think that’s what the manager is trying to say. You think of the young players coming through and think of Garnacho.”
The former United midfielder added, “They’re looking up to people like Marcus now and he’s 27, he’s clearly not training properly and not living his life properly. They’re the examples these people should look at.”
Amorim has insisted there is no personal vendetta against Rashford, and the England forward will return to the United squad once his performances in training improves.
“I wasn’t really thinking about that and now I think Marcus Rashford is doing the exact same. Ok, he’s not refusing to play, but the way he is behaving and the way he’s training…” Scholes said.
He continued, “In a way, he’s saying he doesn’t want to be involved with the team and the fact he’s letting his teammates down, he should be banished from the dressing room. If he’s in and around that and young people are seeing him as an example, the sooner he’s gone the better.”
Rashford last played for United against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Europa League on December 12 and has been omitted from subsequent Matchday squads by manager Ruben Amorim.
