Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has shared his thoughts on former Real Madrid and Red Devils star Ruud van Nistelrooy’s return to Old Trafford as a coach.
After Benni McCarthy’s departure, Manchester United appointed van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake as assistant coaches to Head Coach Erik ten Hag ahead of the upcoming season.
The former Dutch international and manager had coached his former club PSV Eindhoven earlier, but he’s now back in England to work under Ten Hag.
And in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Scholes claimed he’s glad van Nistelrooy is back at the club and believes his experience could help the team.
“It’s great to have him [Van Nistelrooy] around the squad, back at the club,” the former England international said. “Obviously, he’s done his own coaching stuff and managed as well, and not only him but Darren Fletcher as well.”
The Red Devils kick-off the new season with a game against city rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield this weekend at the Wembley Stadium.
A win for Ten Hag’s side could send an early statement to other Premier League teams, starting with their first league game is against Fulham in London next weekend.
