Former Sporting Lisbon stars, Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte, spared Manchester United blushes with two goals in eight second-half minutes to earn the Red Devils a dramatic 2-2 draw at Everton in a Premier League match on Saturday.

Beto put the Toffees ahead after 19 minutes for his fifth goal in four matches, getting on the end of Abdoulaye Doucoure’s header to score. Doucoure then went from provider to goalscorer just past the half-hour mark when he reacted quickest to head home the second after Andre Onana saved an effort from Harrison.

United did not threaten Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal and only made their first attempt on goal in the 42nd minute.

Onana denied Doucoure a second of the afternoon after 65 minutes as Everton looked to finish off the Red Devils, but they would end up regretting the missed chances as a Bruno Fernandes free-kick in the 72nd minute dragged United back in the game.

It was 2-2 by the 80th minute when Ugarte met a headed clearance by Beto and unleasheda left-foot volley through a crowd of players to earn Ruben Amorim’s side a point.

Everton thought they had a penalty deep in stoppage time when Ashley Young when down between Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, only for the decision to be overturned by referee Andy Madley as United held on to claim a share of the spoils.
