An action packed weekend of league football from all over the world awaits fans this weekend, as there will be a good number of clashes between rivals that promises to stir up drama and emotions because of the high stakes involved.

Premier League

Arsenal v Manchester City

The Gunners felt hard done in the reverse fixture against the Cityzens, having to settle for a contentious 2-2 draw after playing almost an hour with 10 men no thanks to Leandro Trossard’s controversial red card.

Both teams are in fair form to serve fans another dramatic match this Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, with Pep Guardiola’s City hoping to maintain their top four status, while Mikel Arteta’s Gunners will hope to keep pace with league leaders, Liverpool.

Bournemouth v Liverpool

The Premier League leaders lost their first match in Europe this season at PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, but are yet to lose back-to-back games this season as they head to face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium where Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been humbled.

NPFL

Enugu Rangers v Ikorodu City

A free-scoring Ikorodu City will be in the Coal City this weekend to take on Rangers International confident of nicking a result from Enugu where Niger Tornadoes recently came away from with all three points.

The Lagos-based team will fancy their chances of leaving the East with a point at least, as Rangers have lost the two matches played since the NPFL returned from the mid-season break.

Serie A

AC Milan v Inter Milan

Few weeks after the two teams met at the Supercoppa Italiana final, Inter Milan will be out for revenge against a Milan side that scored in the dying seconds to snatch a 3-2 win and lift the title then.

This Sunday, a win for Inter could see Simone Inzaghi’s team go top of the league depending on Napoli’s result at AS Roma, while Milan will be hoping to get a result that would keep them in touch with the top four.

La Liga

Getafe v Sevilla

Sevilla and their armada of Nigerians, including new signing, Akor Adams, will go on a trip to the Spanish capital where they will take on Getafe, who have an in-form Nigerian of theirs – Christantus Uche – awaiting them.

South African Premiership

Orlando Pirates v Kaizer Chiefs

Second hosts fifth as the Soweto derby between two of South Africa’s biggest clubs takes centre-stage this weekend.

Polokwane City v Chippa United

Stanley Nwabali’s Chippa United go on a difficult trip to face high-flying Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Nwabali was in goal as the Chilli Boyz advanced to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup and they will be hoping to carry that resilience into Saturday’s clash against their third-placed hosts.

Bundesliga

Bayer Leverkusen v TSG Hoffenheim

Victor Boniface could make his return to Xabi Alonso’s team for the clash at home to a Hoffenheim side who have Boniface’s compatriot, Gift Orban, in their ranks.

Ligue 1

Olympique Marseille v Olympique Lyon

Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille will be out to bounce back from a 2-0 setback at OGC Nice last time out when they welcome sixth-placed Olympique Lyon to the Velodrome this Sunday. L’OM are winless in their last three games, going 10 points adrift of PSG in that run.

Lyon find themselves on an even longer winless run in all competitions compared to Marseille, having drawn five and lost one of the last six games (in regulation time) – a streak that has seen them lose pace with the top three in recent weeks.

Saudi Pro League

Al Ittihad v Al Kholood

Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, and his Al Kholood team will be at the Prince Abdullah AlFaisal Sports City in Jeddah to take on Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad hoping to inflict a back-to-back losses on the joint SPL leaders.
