Man Arrested, Dozens Injured as Car Runs into People During Liverpool Trophy Parade

One man has been arrested and around a dozen people, including four children, have been injured after a vehicle ran into people on Monday during Liverpool’s trophy parade to celebrate this season’s Premier League title win.

A 53-year-old man believed to be behind the wheels of the vehicle has been arrested by Merseyside Police, while up to 27 people have been taken to the hospital from the scene of the incident which UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, described as ‘appalling’.

The vehicle collided with a number of pedestrians on Water Street just past 6pm BST, with four people – including a child – trapped under the vehicle when emergency services arrived the scene of the incident.

“We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening,” Liverpool said in a statement after the incident.

The club added, “We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening. We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident.”
