Noni Madueke denied Trevoh Chalobah a goal to mark his return from Crystal Palace as Chelsea claimed a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and return to the top four in the Premier League on Monday.
Tosin Adarabioyo gave the Blues an early lead for his first Premier League goal with Chelsea, tapping the loose ball home from close range after Wolves failed to deal with a corner-kick.
The visitors were back on level terms on the stroke of half-time thanks to Matt Doherty, who bundled the ball into the Chelsea net following a goal-mouth scramble off Matheus Cunha’s dangerous corner-kick.
Marc Cucurella restored Chelsea’s lead on the hour mark, controlling Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall’s headed flick-on before getting the ball past Jose Sa.
Madueke then sealed the win five minutes later, Chalobah meeting Cole Palmer’s free-kick with a goal-bound header which Madueke steered home on the goal-line.
The win puts Chelsea above Manchester City and into the top four with 40 points, four points behind Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, and 10 behind league leaders, Liverpool.
For Wolves, they remain on 16 points and just outside the relegation zone by virtue of a better goal difference to Ipswich Town.
