The Premier League have nominated eight players for the annual player of the season award. Three members of Liverpool’s title-winning squad, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Ryan Gravenberch lead the eight-player shortlist, after helping the Reds to a 20th league crown.
Defender Van Dijk has played every game for Liverpool this season, keeping 14 clean sheets, midfielder Gravenberch has only missed one match, while Salah has registered a league-high 46 goal contributions, including 28 goals.
Nottingham Forest duo, Morgan Gibbs-White alongside Chris Wood, who is enjoying his most prolific Premier League campaign with 20 goals in 34 matches, have been shortlisted.
Also nominated are Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, who sit second in the scorer’s list with 23 goals, and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who has 18 goals and seven assists this season, while Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice completes the shortlist.
For the annual Manager award, Vitor Pereira has been nominated, after guiding Wolverhampton Wanderers to Premier League safety since joining the club in December.
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who delivered a league title in his first season at Anfield, is also nominated, as are Eddie Howe (Newcastle United) and Nuno Espirito Santo (Nottingham Forest).
Both Newcastle and Nottingham Forest remain in the race for Champions League qualification with two matches remaining. Thomas Frank, whose Brentford side are on course for a highest-ever finish of eighth, rounds off the shortlist.
The spread is wider for the Young Player of the Season category, with Liverpool’s Gravenberch in line for this award too alongside the likes of Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Arsenal defender William Saliba, and Real Madrid target, Dean Huijsen of Bournemouth.
Also nominated are Anthony Elanga of Nottingham Forest, Liam Delap of relegated Ipswich Town, Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa, and Brighton forward Joao Pedro.
A public vote, combined with votes from a panel of football experts, will determine the winners of both awards.
