A trophy parade to celebrate winning the 2024-25 Premier League title is on the cards for Liverpool as the Merseyside club has confirmed when it will embark on a open-top bus parade through the city.
Arne Slot’s team walloped Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield on Sunday to secure their second Premier League title in five years and a record-equalling 20th English top-flight trophy.
The parade, which is being organised by Liverpool City Council, is expected to last between three to five hours, with the bus set to take off from Allerton Maze at 14:30 BST on Monday 26th May before travelling along a nine-mile (15km) route including Queens Drive and The Strand before finishing on Blundell Street.
“We’re delighted to officially invite Liverpool Football Club to parade around the city on 26 May,” City Council leader Liam Robinson said. “A Liverpool victory parade is more than football – it’s a celebration of our city’s pride, passion and community spirit.”
Robinson added it was going to be a “bumper weekend in Liverpool”, stating that a huge amount of work had already been done behind the scenes in preparation.
Chief Inspector Chris Barnes of the Merseyside Police said: “We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Liverpool Football Club on their success. The parade will be a fantastic event for the players, the club, the city, and all the fans who will turn out to cheer their team on through the streets of Liverpool.”
Barnes further clarified that rolling road closures would be in place to accommodate the parade, with some disruptions inevitable. “We would ask motorists to be patient, or avoid the area of the parade route where possible.”
He added. “Officers will be providing a reassuring presence along the route to ensure that the day is not only one to remember, but also an enjoyable and safe event for all those attending the parade.”
Liverpool close out their Premier League campaign on May 25 with a home fixture against Crystal Palace, before embarking on the trophy parade a day later. Hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to line the route to celebrate with Arne Slot and his title-winning squad.
A council spokesperson confirmed that Liverpool will pay the full costs of the event.
