Leon Balogun Slams Libya Officials Amid Airport Controversy with Super Eagles

Leon Balogun has asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take action against Libya following the poor treatment meted on the Super Eagles by Libyan authorities ahead of the AFCON 2025 Qualifier between both countries in Libya.

“Hey [CAF] – surely you’re going to investigate thoroughly and take action, right? Whoever is responsible for this needs to be held accountable. This is unacceptable!!.” Balogun wrote on social media.

The defender’s call comes following the Nigeria team being stranded for over 12 hours after arriving in Libya on Sunday night for the crunch encounter. The plane carrying the team was due to land in Benghazi before it was diverted to another city three hours from the match venue.

As a result, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has stated it is making plans to evacuate the Super Eagles from Libya back to Nigeria.
