LeBron James Accidentally Reveals Possible Retirement Date

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James could be stepping away from the game for good soon if his words during a night out with his wife, Savannah, and close friends are anything to go by.

The 40-year-old is entering a record-setting 23rd NBA season and has said he remains uncertain about whether he has one campaign left or wants to play multiple more years.

James, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, is 50 games away from breaking Robert Parish’s record for most career regular-season games.

He will also break a tie with Vince Carter for the most seasons played in NBA history when he features for the Lakers in the 2025-26 campaign – which is possibly going to be his last season before retirement.

That’s because the basketball icon was heard saying his wife Savannah wants him to ‘retire next year’. James was out with former teammate and longtime friend Kevin Love and his wife Kate.

There were also other confidants at the night out from which one of those present posted a clip in which James is heard saying, “[Savannah] wants me to f—ing retire in the next year or so.”

James is a four-time NBA champion, four-time Finals MVP and four-time league MVP, and he has made 21 All-Star teams and 21 All-NBA squads; he is also the first 40-year-old to make an All-NBA team.
