The Los Angeles Lakers have secured the third seed in the NBA Western Conference, with Luka Doncic putting up 39 points in just three quarters of the 140-109 win over a second-string Houston Rockets at the Crypto[dot]com Arena on Friday night.

Luka Doncic added eight rebounds and seven assists to his 39 points, while LeBron James posted 14 points and eight assists to help the Lakers seal the victory against the West’s second seed and clinch a 50th win in what is JJ Redick’s first season as the franchise’s head coach.

However, LeBron James, who had been battling a groin injury, grimaced in pain in the third quarter and sat out the remainder of the game with tape on his left hip as a precaution with the play-offs looming.
