Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks has claimed the NBA award for 2024-25 Clutch Player of the Year, getting the nod ahead of Nikola Jokic of Denver Nuggets and Anthony Edwards of Minnesota Timberwolves.
“Some people are born into it, I think I had to learn. I learned back in high school, and kind of got better and better at each stage,” Brunson told the NBA TNT crew after being named the award winner.
28-year-old Brunson got 70 of 100 first-place votes based on nominations from head coaches in the NBA, as the nicks went 17-11 in clutch games involving Brunson, who shot 51.5 percent from the field and 84.0 percent from the free-throw line in clutch time.
He is the third winner of the award, following wins by De’Aaron Fox in 2022-23 and Steph Curry in 2023-24 campaign. Brunson scored 426 points to get this season’s award ahead of Jokic who finished with 312 points while Edwards scored 47 points to place third.
