Justin Kluivert scored a hat-trick for the second time in this Premier League season to inspire Bournemouth to a resounding 4-1 demolition of Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.
Kluivert opened scoring for the Cherries in the 18th minute before restoring the lead for Andoni Iraola’s side just before half-time after Bruno Guimaraes had pulled one back for the hosts.
Both sides came into the game on the back of respective unbeaten runs – Newcastle aiming for a 10th consecutive win in all competitions while Bournemouth were going for an 11th game unbeaten in all competitions.
It would be Bournemouth’s unbeaten run that would stay standing in the end, as Kluivert completed his hat-trick in the second minute of stoppage time, making sure he leaves St. James’ Park with more goals scored there than his legendary dad, Patrick Kluivert, ever scored there for Newcastle.
The younger Kluivert then went from scorer to provider, setting up Milos Kerkez to drive a fourth nail into the Newcastle coffin in the 96th minute.
Bournemouth go up to sixth on the Premier League table with 37 points with the win, level on points with Chelsea and a point behind Eddie Howe’s men.
