Klay Thompson Sets Exciting Record in Debut to Help Dallas Mavericks Start NBA Season with a Win

Life outside the Bay has started on a winning note for Klay Thompson after the former Golden State Warriors man set a new franchise record with six three-point shots made from 10 attempts in Dallas Mavericks’ win over San Anotnio Spurs.

Thompson finished with 22 points while Luka Doncic posted 28 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as the Mavs started their NBA campaign with a 120-109 win over the Spurs who saw Chris Paul debut for them.

CP3 ended the match with three points, eight assists and seven rebounds while reigning Rookie of the Year, Victor Wembanyama, ended the match at American Airlines Center with 17 points and nine rebounds.

The result sees Dallas Mavericks extend their dominant head-to-head record over the Spurs to 12 wins in the last 13 meetings between both sides in the league.

Next up for the Mavs is a tantalising clash against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday while the Spurs is Houston Rockets in a match in which both teams will be out to get a first win on the board.

Rockets looked set to win in their season opener against Charlotte Hornets, but saw an 11-point lead at the half fade away as the Hornets left Toyota Center with a 110-105 win.

LaMelo Ball was unstoppable on the night and was two rebounds away from a triple double, posting 38 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds against Ime Udoka’s Rockets.
