Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s next club appears to be Napoli as a move to the newly-crowned Italian champions is all-but complete, with the Manchester City legend set to remain in Europe after 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.

De Bruyne has made it clear he still believes he can play at the highest level, and reporter Sacha Tavolieri claims he has now agreed to sign for Napoli, who will feature in the Champions League next season. The Belgian star is leaving Manchester City after they chose not to renew his contract.

The 33-year-old was previously a target for Chiacgo Fire, with the Major League Soccer side preparing a package to sign him although a deal eventually failed to materialise.

Disappointed his City deal had not been extended, De Bruyne said in April, “Honestly, I still think I can perform at this level like I’m showing but I understand that clubs have to make decisions. Obviously, I was a bit surprised but I have to accept it.”

At the moment, De Bruyne looks set to be linking up with former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, who was named Serie A MVP in his first season in the division. McTominay scored an acrobatic opener in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Cagliari that sealed the league title.

Meanwhile, De Bruyne has been named in Belgium’s squad to take on North Macedonia and Wales in World Cup qualifying next month, and then will then begin preparations for a new start with Napoli.
