Kelechi Iheanacho Set to Join Middlesbrough on Loan from Sevilla

Nigeria international forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, is on the verge of joining English Championship outfit Middlesbrough on loan from Spanish La Liga side Sevilla.

The 28-year-old left Leicester City on a free transfer last summer to join Sevilla but has struggled to make an impact or enjoy sustained game time, and has yet to score in La Liga.

Iheanacho was linked with Scottish Premiership heavyweights, Celtic, but a move did not materialise, thus denying the Nigerian an opportunity to reunite with former manager, Brendan Rodgers.

The Super Eagles man also declined offers from Greek clubs PAOK and Panathinaikos, as well as Italian team, Venezia, in the January transfer window as he prioritised a return to the United Kingdom.

Middlesbrough face Sunderland on Monday night (transfer deadline day) and are currently seventh on the Championship table with 44 points from 29 matches.
