It’s looking like the signing of Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho is set to be a battle between two European clubs this summer. The Nigeria international forward became a free agent after his contract with Premier League side Leicester City ended earlier this summer.
Since leaving the Foxes, the former Manchester City star has been linked with several clubs, especially teams in the EPL. Aston Villa, Ipswich, and West Ham United have all shown interest in the Super Eagles star, who might be joining another club outside England despite being keen on staying in the English top-flight league.
According to Soccernet, Iheanacho reportedly agreed terms with European giants Sevilla and was scheduled for medical to team up with fellow countryman, Chidera Ejuke.
However, the deal is set to take a new twist as German Bundesliga giants VfB Stuttgart have shown interest in signing the Nigerian forward this summer. Stuttgart lost striker Serhou Guirassy to Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund and hope to replace the Guinean international with Iheanacho.
Sevilla might miss out on signing the 27-year-old forward as they won’t be competing in Europe in the upcoming season, unlike Stuttgart that will be competing in the UEFA Champions League.
Playing in the UCL might be the enticing package to tempt Iheanacho to join Stuttgart over Sevilla this summer, just as Villa remain in the picture for his signature.
