Kasatkina Capitalises on Andreeva’s Errors to Win WTA Title in China

Russian fifth seed Daria Kasatkina beat her good friend and fellow teen, Mirra Andreeva, 6-0 4-6 6-4 in a scrappy encounter to win the Ningbo Open in China.

Kasatkina started the final off in hot form, making only two unforced errors on her way to winning the first set to love. But 17-year-old Andreeva rallied back into the match to take the second set.

Andreeva was cruising in the final set, having taken the first three games, before a string of unforced errors allowed her opponent ranked 11th in the world to stage a comeback and dramatically win the title.

The final set breakdown put paid hopes of a title for Andreeva to follow up on getting silver in the doubles event at the Olympic Games followed
