Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has sent glowing tributes to the club, in the wake of the Reds’ confirmation as Premier League champions.
The Merseyside outfit beat Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 last Sunday to secure the title and end a 35-year wait for fans to be able to celebrate a championship triumph inside Anfield.
Klopp had guided the Reds to their 19th top-flight title five years ago, but Anfield held a trophy lift under COVID-19 restrictions – which meant that only around 500 people were permitted to be in the ground on the night they beat Chelsea 5-3 in July 2020.
The German tactician, who departed Merseyside almost a year ago, says he is feeling “extremely positive about the future” following Liverpool’s Premier League success.
“Super grateful for the past. Super, super happy about the present, extremely positive about the future! Congratulations YNWA (You’ll Never Walk Alone),” the 2019 Champions League winner wrote ia post on social media.
Klopp will be in the city next month to attend the LFC Foundation’s Gala Ball as a guest speaker. The black-tie event, which will be held at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and in partnership with Forever Reds, sees Klopp present as the charity’s first official honorary ambassador.
The timing of the event, taking place on May 23, comes just two days before Liverpool’s final league match of the campaign against Crystal Palace, raising the prospect of Klopp being present at Anfield for the Premier League trophy presentation.
