Center referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero has been reportedly left out of La Liga’s match officials list for Gameweek 25, in the wake of the controversy stirred by Jude Bellingham’s dismissal.
The development comes in response to the abuse Munuera Montero and his family have reportedly faced for sending off Bellingham, which the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) condemned in a statement released by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
Montero sent off Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham during their 1-1 draw with Osasuna in a La Liga clash last weekend for an alleged use of a slur word, which infuriated manager Carlo Ancelotti and the Real hierarchy.
Following the contentious decision, Relevo reports indicate that La Liga have decided to omit Munuera Montero from officiating in the upcoming Matchday 25 round of fixtures.
Bellingham faces a suspension that could range from four to twelve matches, as a consequence of his sending off and alleged verbal misconduct.
However, he is eligible to feature in Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League second leg playoff clash against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.
