Bayern Munich have confirmed that midfielder Joshua Kimmich has signed a new four-year contract extension with the club.

Following months of speculation and lengthy negotiations, Bayern and Kimmich have agreed on a contract extension that will keep the German international in Bavaria until the end of the 2028/2029 season.

Bayern Munich director for sport Max Eberl said in a club statement: “Mentality and identity—that’s what Joshua Kimmich stands for. He embodies Bayern’s genetics, has internalized them and embodies them on the pitch. Where others stop, he begins. We are glad he is going to stay with the club.”

According to reports in Germany, Kimmich will earn around €20 million ($21.7 million) per season, including bonuses. However, it has also been reported that the deal will not include a significant sign-on fee.

Kimmich had been linked to several clubs over the past year, but nothing serious seemed to develop for the 30-year-old.
