Boston Celtics held off a late rally from arch-rivals, Los Angeles Lakers, to claim a 111-101 win in an NBA match at TD Garden on Saturday night, with Jayson Tatum starring for the reigning champions with a 40-point double-double.
Tatum finished the match with 40 points – the fourth time this season he’s scored 40 points or more – along with 12 rebounds and eight assists to help the Celtics to a 10th win in their last 12 while extending their winning streak to four games as well.
The Celtics star was 12 of 28 from the field in 45 minutes of action against the Lakers, who also had to deal with Jaylen Brown as last year’s finals MVP added 31 points and six rebounds in the match for the home side.
Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 34 points and eight rebounds, making five of 10 3-point attempts, while LeBron James had 22 points, 14 rebounds and was two assists away from posting a triple-double. However, the 40-year-old’s shooting from 3-point range let him down as he went 0 for 6 from that range.
