Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy will leave the club at the end of the 2024-25 season, bringing an end to a 13-year spell at the Foxes with his final game at the King Power Stadium coming up May 18 against Ipswich Town, followed by the trip to Bournemouth a week later to end the Premier League season.

“To the fans of Leicester, gutted that this day is coming but I know it was going to come eventually,” Vardy said in a video message on Thursday. “After 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, some downs but the majority – all highs – it’s finally time to call it a day, which I’m devastated about but I think the timing is right.’

Vardy added, “Just want to sincerely thank you all for taking me in as one of your own. Leicester will always have a massive place in my heart and I will make sure that I’ll be following for the years to come, in what I hope will be even more success for the club. But as for now, this is my goodbye. But you will see me again, I promise. thank you.”

38-year-old Vardy joined Leicester City from Fleetwood Town in 2012 for £1 million, nearing 500 appearances in a trophy-laden spell that has seen him win the Premier League in 2016, the 2021 FA Cup and Community Shield, and the Championship twice in 2014 and 2024.

Five games away from 500 appearances, Vardy has scored 198 goals for Leicester City, emerging as Premier League Player of the Season in 2016 and Golden Boot award winner in 2020 after getting 23 goals in 35 matches in that campaign.
