AC Parma manager and former Inter Milan left-back Cristian Chivu has reportedly agreed to be the next manager of the Nerazzurri ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup tournament taking place this June.
The Romanian great is set to leave Parma after guiding them to Serie A safety over the final months of the just-concluded season, and replace the departed Simone Inzaghi, who assumed the managerial role at Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal.
Chivu met with Inter president Beppe Marotta and Nerazzurri directors on Thursday. The appointment will mark a return to familiar surroundings for Chivu, who was Primavera coach at Inter for several seasons.
His contract with Parma expires at the end of the month, but Inter want to make the appointment immediately so he can take charge for their FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the United States of America.
Chivu is familiar with the club having worked at Inter Milan’s youth team previously.
