Brown Ideye scored his first goal since returning to the Nigeria Premier Football League as Enyimba overcame Nasarawa United to claim a first win in the league since the end of October.
Joseph Atule broke the deadlock for the People’s Elephant in third minute of first half stoppage time, before Ideye scored his first NPFL goal in just his second appearance just after the hour mark to cancel out Nasarawa’s equaliser and seal the win for Enyimba.
The result means new boss, Stanley Eguma, is unbeaten in three matches since taking the job just over a week ago, claiming two wins in the process.
Next up for Eguma and Enyimba is a continental clash against Al Masry in Aba in the CAF Confederation Cup; a match in which Enyimba’s quest for qualification will get a major boost with a win.
