Manchester United came from a goal down to defeat Viktoria Plzen 2-1 thanks to a second-half brace by Rasmus Hojlund in a UEFA Europa League match in Doosan Arena on Thursday.
Both teams came into the game level on points and unbeaten after five matches played and after a goalless first half, Matej Vydra put the home side in front just three minutes into the second period.
Hojlund came on for Marcus Rashford after 55 minutes and made his impact felt within 10 minutes, latching on to the loose ball to equalise for United after Amad Diallo’s shot was parried to his path.
The Danish striker was whiskers away from putting the Red Devils ahead with 20 minutes to go, but failed to get a touch on a brilliant ball across the Plzen goal from Bruno Fernandes.
Mason Mount also saw a glorious chance waste as he fired straight at the Plzen keeper when put through on goal minutes after Hojlund’s miss.
And just as the game looked set to end in a draw, Fernandes found Hojlund with a well-taken free-kick which the striker controlled well with his first touch before slotting past the keeper for the winner.
The result takes United up to 7th with 12 points after six games, four points behind Lazio and Athletic Bilbao at the top of the league phase table.
