Bayern Munich Head Coach, Vincent Kompany, has admitted that he is not surprised by the humiliating 4-1 loss suffered at the hands of Barcelona in a UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday.
Raphinha scored a hat-trick for the Catalans while former Bayern man, Robert Lewandowski, added one more to render Harry Kane’s 18th minute goal a mere consolation for the visitors.
After the match, Kompany to the media, “Congrats to Barça. They are a top team in Europe, so it’s not a surprise. These are the games we want to win and show the best version of Bayern,” Kompany said. “In the first half, I had the feeling for half an hour that we could win. Then the game changed with the second and third goals.”
The former Burnley manager added, “There are no excuses. What’s important is that we learn from this game. This game won’t decide our season. Why there was such a big difference between the first and second half is something we need to look at.”
The result saw Bayern’s run of consecutive wins against Barcelona end at six games.
