Heartland FC has made a significant move by signing former Super Eagles player Emmanuel Amuneke as their new head coach. Amuneke’s official unveiling was conducted by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, signaling a new era for the club.
While the 53-year-old Amuneke last managed the Egyptian side Misr El-Makkasa in February 2021, his latest appointment comes at a crucial time as Heartland FC is reportedly on the brink of securing Beyond Limits’ NPFL ticket for the next season.
The Owerri-based club finished 18th in the Nigeria Professional Football League and got relegated to the Nigeria National League last season, but the club is determined to make a swift return to Nigeria’s top football division.
Amuneke’s new role continues a trend of homecomings in the NPFL for notable coaches, including Finidi George to Rivers United and Usman Abd’allah to Kano Pillars.
Heartland fans eagerly await the official confirmation of their return to the NPFL, with Amuneke at the helm to guide them back to glory.
