Haaland Double Helps Manchester City Secure Statement Win Over West Ham

Manchester City recorded back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since October, courtesy of a 4-1 win over visiting West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts broke the deadlock as early as the 10th minute when Savinho saw his attempted effort take a deflection off Vladimír Coufal and leave Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola wrong-footed as the ball nestled in the net.

City soon made it two when Erling Haaland rose high at the far post to head home from Savinho’s inch-perfect cross in the 42nd minute.

Upon resumption of the second period, Savinho and Haaland combined again to give the hosts an unassailable advantage before Phil Foden put the icing on the cake with City’s fourth shortly after.

German international Niclas Füllkrug netted what proved to be a consolation in the 71st minute, but that will do little to ease the pressure mounting on manager Julen Lopetegui’s shoulders.

The defeat leaves the Hammers in 13th spot on the Premier League standings, while Pep Guardiola’s side remain in sixth position.
