Guardiola Tipped to Bolster Manchester City Squad With Five January Signings

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has reportedly put in place a five-man shortlist for the January transfer window as he seeks to reinforce his squad.

The reigning Premier League champions have endured a torrid two months, notching only two wins in 14 matches across all competitions and are without several high-profile players due to injuries.

In addition, the Cityzens are trailing leaders Liverpool at the Premier League summit and know they need to pick up the pace if they are to hold onto a top four spot by the end of the season.

Which is why Guardiola reportedly has his eye on several midfield targets, with Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, and Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich being prime targets.

City are also monitoring Bayer Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The club do have room to maneuver in terms of PSR, given they sold Julian Alvarez for big money to Atletico Madrid in the summer.
