Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has publicly expressed his sympathy for Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman and Manchester United parted ways a day after suffering a 2-1 loss at West Ham United in the Premier League.
According to the Spaniard, “I feel sorry for managers when they lose their position, I am so sorry for him. I have an incredible relationship [with him], he represented United in the highest level in terms of behaviour.”
Ten Hag, who faced Guardiola’s Manchester City side seven times during his brief tenure, managed only one victory although it was a title-winning one as it helped secure a memorable FA Cup win for the Red Devils last season.
“Our job as a manager is one of the few jobs out of all the jobs in the world where the people are expecting them to be sacked,” Guardiola added. “I don’t see architects, or doctors, or teachers, or anyone the people saying ‘get out’. It’s only us.”
