Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has said that the Premier League champions will be his final managerial job in club football before he considers the possibility of coaching a national team.

Guardiola revealed this while appearing on BBC Sport with celebrity chef, Dani Garcia, though he did not state when he intends to walk away from the City job or leave management at club football level behind.

“I’m not going to manage another team,” Guardiola said. “I’m not talking about the long-term future, but what I’m not going to do is leave Manchester City, go to another country, and do the same thing as now.”

He added, “I wouldn’t have the energy. The thought of starting somewhere else, all the process of training and so on. No, no, no. Maybe a national team, but that’s different. I want to leave it and go and play golf, but I can’t [if he takes a club job]. I think stopping would do me good.”

The former Barcelona manager has previously been eyed by England and was approached in summer 2024 by the FA to take the role following the exit of Gareth Southgate.

Former Chelsea, PSG and Borussia Dortmund boss, Thomas Tuchel, eventually got the England role, while Guardiola signed a two-year contract extension with City until 2027 last month.
