An outstanding performance from a resilient Great Britain team in the women’s rowing quadruple sculls ensured they won their first ever gold medal in this event at the 2024 Olympics on Wednesday.
The Brits did well to come from behind and secure victory as they tipped Netherlands to the top of the podium in a photo finish which saw both teams separated by only 0.15 seconds at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.
Netherlands got off to a fast start and opened a decent lead but Team Great Britain rallied in the last 200 metres to win the event. Meanwhile, Germany took bronze to compete the podium.
Lola Anderson, Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott and Georgina Brayshaw have cemented their spot in Great Britain Olympics history, bouncing back from Team GB’s seventh-place finish in Tokyo 2020.
