Good News for Barcelona Amid Registration Headache of Dani Olmo

Barcelona have received good news in the interim regarding the availability of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor after the club was granted temporary permission by the Spanish national sports council to register both players.

Olmo and Victor joined Barcelona in the summer of 2024 and were only registered for the first half of the 2024-25 campaign owing to the club’s inability to meet up with La Liga’s wage cap restrictions.

While the Spanish football federation (RFEF) and the league have rejected Barca’s move to have them registered for the second half of the season, the CSD have given the Catalan outfit some reprieve until a definitive ruling is made in the case with the RFEF and La Liga.

The temporary decision means Olmo and Victor will be available for the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid or Real Mallorca.

Barcelona have since reportedly sold VIP boxes for their new stadium, which is still under construction, for a reported 100m euros to be able to operate within La Liga’s financial fair play scheme.

However, the paperwork was sent three days after La Liga’s deadline, with La Liga stating that Barcelona have now met the financial requirements following the expiry of Olmo and Victor’s licences, while regulations prevent players “obtaining another licence at the same club to which they were already linked” in the same season.

According to Spanish reports, Barcelona argued the rule was obsolete and they now have the funds while the transfer window is open and should therefore be able to register the duo.
