Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Greece men’s basketball team have exited Paris 2024 at the quarter-final stage after a 76-63 loss against the world champions Germany.
Greece got off to a strong start led by Giannis, opening up a 12-point lead in the first quarter before the Germans fought back in the second quarter to tie the game going into half time.
Gordon Herbert’s then charges maintained the tempo in the second half to secure a crucial victory.
Orlando Magic star Franz Wagner led the soring for Die Mannschaft with 18 points while Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 22 wasn’t enough to see Greece through on the day.
The win sees Germany qualify for their third straight major tournament semi-final and also the country’s first ever semi-final at the Olympics.
