German Football Association (DFB) have launched a bid to host the 2029 UEFA Women’s European Championships, with the eight-time winners laying out a plan that would see the event become the first tournament to turn a profit and increase participation in women’s football across Europe.

The DFB revealed their bid will generate record revenues and fresh impetus to participation among girls and player pathways, while setting new benchmarks for visibility, inclusion and empowerment.

General Secretary of the DFB, Heike Ullrich, said: “The logo, design and vision fit very well with the DFB’s DNA. We want to use our experience in organising major tournaments and our passion for women’s football in Germany to provide an outstanding stage for the tournament.

Ullrich added ”The slogan ‘Together WE Rise’ will be brought to life during the tournament in Germany and for women’s football throughout Europe.”

Germany face stiff competition for the 2029 showpiece, with Poland already one of the bidding candidates after missing out on the 2025 edition. Denmark and Sweden have put in a joint bid, while Portugal and Italy are the other interested bidders.

The preliminary bids will be heard on Wednesday March 12th, with UEFA’s Executive Committee voting to determine a host in December 2025. If successful, It would be the third UEFA Women’s Euros tournament to be hosted by Germany, which also staged the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2011.
