Coco Gauff has powered into the Italian Open quarter-final stage following a straight sets victory over Emma Raducanu of Great Britain in their round-of-16 meeting on Monday in Rome.
The 21-year-old American showed complete dominance as she decimated the world number 49th ranked Raducanu 6-1, 6-2 to reach the last-eight where she will face teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva.
Andreeva booked her spot in the last eight thanks to a comeback win over Denmark’s Clara Tauson on Monday, rallying from losing the first set to end the match with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 win.
Elsewhere in Rome, four-time major champion Naomi Osaka’s eight-match winning streak came to an end after she suffered a three-set upset at the hands of American player Peyton Stearns.
World number 42 Stearns overcame a bout of illness while on court to get a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 win over Osaka and book her place in the quarter-final stage.
