Gabriel to Miss Rest of This Season in Blow to Arsenal

Arsenal will be without Gabriel Magalhaes for the rest of the season as the Brazilian defender is expected to undergo surgical procedure to treat a hamstring injury picked up in the Premier League match against Fulham on Tuesday night.

Gabriel was went down in the 15th minute at the Emirates Stadium while going after Adama Traore, and was replaced by Jakub Kiwior as the Gunners went on to get a 2-1 win. The club has now confirmed he will be out for the rest of the season in a statement.

“Further to being substituted during our match against Fulham on Tuesday, we can confirm that Gabriel Magalhaes has sustained a hamstring injury which requires surgery,” Arsenal stated on Thursday.

The statement adds, “Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season.”

Before the injury, Gabriel made 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

27-year-old Gabriel will miss the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid as well as the remaining eight games in the Premier League, as the Gunners hope to have him back fully fit for the 2025-26 season.
